Supervisor’s Website Letter, #3 of 2022
Welcome back to view my July quarterly update for our Town of Massena’s Website! To bring you up to date on some town projects, the East Massena Water Project began on April 11th to replace the waterline that has been problematic for some time. All is on schedule and I appreciate the feedback, on any issue that has arisen; I am pleased with the turnaround time in addressing what comes up on a daily basis. In addition to that project managed by Tisdale Associates with Kubricky and Sons who are doing the work, C & S Engineers has begun the Apron Rehabilitation Project at the airport. Grant writing is so important to aide our town budget and we are grateful for the work on grants by Linda McQuinn; who has had lots of previous grant writing experience and a background in economic development. Town board members Debra Willer, Patrick Facteau, Adrian Taraska and I have continued with trainings and webinars through both the Office of the State Comptroller and the Association of Towns. This has helped in our committee work. Both Senator Joe Griffo and Senator Dan Stec have recently visited our office at the Town Hall and had good conversation about Massena and how they can help. Have you checked out our new website that Jason Hendricks is managing along with his commitment to “Explore Massena”? It is nice to hear positive feedback and how it is easier to access and utilize. Given the local and national impact of Fishing, Fishing Committee members Tom Miller and Adrian Taraska meet with Fishing Tournament Coordinator Don Meissner regularly. Our fishing season begins July 9 -Phoenix Bass Fishing League-St. Lawrence River-Northeast Division; July 30-31- American Bass Club-Eastern Qualifier; August 16-21- 2022 Tackle Warehouse Pro Circuit TITLE Championship on the St. Lawrence River; September 10 - Cashion Rods Tour; September 22-24 – 2022 Toyota Series St. Lawrence River -Northern Division; and October 1-2 – Big Bass Blowout. The Celine Philibert Cultural Center and Museum is pleased to welcome our new Town Historian Josh Davis. Their board will have a welcome reception, planned for early August. Josh has already helped me with historical information to aide Alcoa’s celebration of their 120th Anniversary. You have surely heard or read about the Mega Reunion being planned by members of our community for the first weekend of August. Check out the many activities they are planning on their website. If you would like to be added to a waiting list for any particular board or committee, to fill when a vacancy occurs, please feel free to contact me. Think about working on one of these board committees: Library, Museum, Massena Electric Dept., Planning, Zoning, Ethics, Joint Recreation, and Business Development Council.
Serving Town of Massena for a Positive Future!
