I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the grand opening for Sarah’s Place - A HOUSING REHAB PROJECT under the 2012 Home Program (HUD Grant) on Barnhart Road on Sunday with my wife Emily.
The owners David and Wendy Labelle have rehabbed a quadplex (4 units) that had fit the criteria in our code as blight. The contractor Les Baker of Painting Etc, Inc. did a great job.
The unique thing about this project is it is being rehabbed to accommodate citizens with handicap challenges. The project called "Sarah's Place" is being done in the memory of their daughter Sarah Labelle-Thibodeau.
The Labelle's have made a significant financial investment themselves supported by Home Program money which brings the total investment in the property to more than $ 100,000.00
A blighted property rehabbed, a contractor employed, materials purchased locally and affordable handicapped housing made available.
